Fall is officially here, which means a new wedding season, special events, family photos, and all of those “I want to feel extra pretty” moments are picking up again. 🤍

If you have professional makeup coming up, there are a few simple things you can do beforehand to help your makeup look and feel its best.

✨ 3 things to do before your makeup appointment

1. Keep your skincare routine consistent.

Your skin doesn’t need a last-minute overhaul before your makeup appointment. In fact, it’s usually better not to experiment with new products, strong exfoliants, or unfamiliar treatments right before an important event.

Instead, stick with the skincare your skin already knows and loves. Healthy, comfortable skin gives us the best canvas to work with.

2. Arrive with clean, comfortable skin.

On the day of your appointment, follow your normal skincare routine and give your products a little time to settle in.

You don’t need to show up with completely bare skin—but I’d avoid anything unusually heavy, greasy, or brand-new.

And if you’re wondering what to do about moisturizer, SPF, or other skincare before your appointment, don’t stress! I’m always happy to guide you based on your skin and the makeup we’re creating.

3. Bring inspiration—but don’t worry about finding “the look.”

Pinterest and Instagram are wonderful for inspiration, but your favorite makeup photo doesn’t have to be an exact blueprint.

Your features, skin, coloring, outfit, event, lighting, and personal style all come into play when creating your look.

I love taking the feeling of an inspiration photo and translating it into something that feels beautiful and natural on you.
